Book & DVD Donations

Winchester Public Library accepts donations of books and DVDs that are in good to new condition. All donations are tax-deductible.

Please drop off donations inside the library during regular operating hours. Call ahead before bringing a large collection, to make sure we can accept the quantity. Small quantities (1-3 items) may be placed in our book drop. Please place a slip inside the book or DVD case indicating they are donated material.

Due to the library’s needs and space, not all donations are added to the collection. When items are not added to the collection, they are sold to benefit the library or donated to a nonprofit organization. Occasionally, items in detiorated condition will be discarded.

We are not able to accept all donations. Please make sure your items are free of smoke, mildew, and critters. If you have older paperbacks, magazines, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, Reader’s Digest collections, Time-Life collections, or encyclopedia sets, a nonprofit organization may be able to accept your donation. Please contact them directly.

Thank you for considering Winchester Public Library for your donation.

Memoribilia & Historical Donations

Due to space and archival concerns, we are only able to accept memorabilia and historical items on a very limited case-by-case basis. We recommended contacting the John Steuart Curry Community Building in Winchester, Jefferson County Historical Society in Oskaloosa, or Kansas State Historical Society in Topeka if we are unable to accept your donation.
